General Fostering Questions

What are the benefits of fostering?

Fostering saves lives, provides a flexible commitment, and allows you to make a real difference in an animal's life. You'll receive support from our team, with all costs covered by the rescue. It's a rewarding experience that enriches both your life and the lives of the animals you help.

Can I choose the type of animal I foster?

Yes! On the application, you can select whether you'd like to foster cats or dogs, as well as specify preferences such as puppies, kittens, adults, seniors, litters, etc. There's also a section where you can indicate more specific preferences, including size, age, breed, temperament, and sex, to help match you with the right foster animal.

Do I need prior experience to foster?

No prior experience is needed to foster! While experience with dogs or cats can be helpful, it's not required. Our team will guide you through the entire fostering process and provide support every step of the way.

How long does a foster commitment usually last?

A typical foster commitment lasts a minimum of two weeks. However, the duration can vary depending on factors like medical needs, age, and behavior. Fostering continues until the animal finds their forever home, but we work with fosters to ensure a commitment that fits their availability.

In the meantime, we will provide guidance and support to help you safely care for the animal while we search for a new placement.
